Built by women who were told no one too many times.
Bloom exists because women of color start businesses at record rates yet receive less than 2% of venture capital. We’re here to change that math — through community, education, and real access to capital.
“Our mission is to ensure that every woman of color who has the courage to start a business also has the resources, relationships, and capital to grow it.”

How it all started
In 2020, Aaliya Osei walked out of her third pitch meeting in a month — three meetings, three polite rejections, three rooms where she was the only Black woman at the table. On the subway home, she texted Renata Cruz: “We need to build the table ourselves.”
They started hosting virtual dinners for women entrepreneurs in their networks, sharing what was actually working — and what wasn’t. Within three months, over 200 women had joined those calls. They weren’t just looking for tips. They were looking for each other.
Bloom grew from those conversations. Every feature, every program, every partnership started as a need someone named in a call. We still operate that way today.

What we believe
The principles that guide every decision we make.
Community First
Every decision we make starts with one question: does this serve our members? Community isn’t a feature — it’s the foundation.
Equity by Design
We build products, programs, and partnerships that actively close gaps in capital, networks, and knowledge — not ones that widen them.
Collective Growth
Your win is our win. We measure success by how many women build sustainable businesses, not just how many sign up.
Radical Authenticity
We tell the truth about entrepreneurship — the hard parts too. No highlight-reel culture, just honest support and real tools.

Our journey
Five years of building something worth building.
Bloom founded in a Brooklyn kitchen after Aaliya's third investor meeting ended in “we'll pass.”
First 500 members joined. Launched the Mentor Match program with 40 volunteer mentors.
Partnered with three CDFIs to surface $2M in funding opportunities for members.
Crossed 10,000 members. Launched the Resource Hub and our first live summit.
Introduced the Bloom Fellowship — 12 women, $50K each, 6 months of intensive support.
Now 25,000+ members strong and growing. Mobile app launched. The journey continues.
